Music and Musical Theatre

At Icklesham Church of England Primary School and Nursery, we place great value on the benefits music can have to the development of children and the positive effects of music to children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.

We are privileged to have our music curriculum taught by Mrs Fletcher who is a qualified music teacher. The curriculum she has created not only follows the National Curriculum but also allows pupils to follow our school vision of ‘Let your Light Shine’ through her lessons in the school and nursery, as well as at our after-school musical theatre club.

Mrs Fletcher supports in-school performances such as the Christmas Nativity and the year five and six end of year production. She accompanies the school in church for the Harvest Festival, Christmas and Easter services as well as the annual Year Six Leaver’s services.

She has led the school choir to perform at Glyndebourne Opera’s One Voice Christmas performances. In 2024, the school choir accompanied by Mrs Fletcher, won The Derek Norcross Cup at the Hastings Music Festival. She is a much-loved member of staff who brings the school the value of Joy to Life.
