Mental Health and Wellbeing Team

Here at Icklesham Primary School and Nursery, personal development and wellbeing are at the heart of what we do every day. Along with our Personal, Social and Health Education curriculum we have created a Mental Health and Wellbeing Team in order to promote the importance of looking after yourself and to act as a signposting service for those families who feel they need a little help.

We aim to offer support and guidance to pupils, staff and families in time of need. Our senior Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing lead, Mrs Isaac, leads a team of staff that are dedicated to raising the profile of mental health through different methods. These may be assemblies, awareness days, signposting to support and through our Personal, Social and Health Education curriculum.

Mrs Barry

Mrs Isaac has recently qualified in her new role as Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Lead and has organised training for all staff with a programme called ‘Every Adult an Ally’. Mrs Isaac has been the year 5 / 6 class teacher for twelve years and a member of the senior leadership team for five years.

Mrs Barry has worked at Icklesham for 19 years in all year groups throughout the school and has been in the role of school secretary for 9 years. She is often the first port of call for families who need support.

They both attended the recent East Sussex Mental Health and Wellbeing Conference and heard inspirational keynote speaker, Paul Dix, speak about his research on MHEW. His work can be found in his books through this website:  https://www.pauldix.org/

Mrs Isaac, along with her team, is committed to ensuring that all members of the Icklesham community know they are cared for and that the support is there for them in times of need.
