Welcome to Ocean Class and Icklesham Nursery

Icklesham Church of England Primary School and Nursery is a thriving village school and nursery.

The main aims of our Nursery are to forge supportive relationships with our families, to nurture, inspire and care for children during their Early Years from age 2 – 5, and prepare children for their future journeys as they move through primary school.

At Icklesham, nursery children benefit from the expertise of the whole school including our Leadership Team, Early Years Teachers and Practitioners, a Specialist Music Teacher, Special Educational Needs Coordinator and Safeguarding Team. Our Nursery and Reception Class work closely together as an Early Years Village, providing seamless transition into primary school.

Children also benefit from all the facilities on site including a large field, nature area, hall, adventure trail and playground.

Welcome to the Summer Term

Our curuious curriculum theme is ‘People Who Help Us'.

We will be focusing on occupations, where people who help us work e.g., a doctor works in a hospital and how we may feel being in different situations.
We will be welcoming parents who help us to come in to nursery and talk to us about their roles. Our role-play area will change weekly to encourage imaginative play and to really help us understand what is needed for each occupation!
In the last couple of weeks of the term we will be looking at dinosaurs and use books to look at the past and will discuss what looks the same and what has changed over time. We will be setting up an archeological dig in our garden where the children can hunt for fossils and dinosaur bones!
